Schumer & Gillibrand Announce $15 Million to Fund SUNY EV Charging Infrastructure

In a landmark announcement, U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand revealed $15 million in federal funding awarded to SUNY to install up to 350 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across campuses in New York State. This initiative, part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program, will significantly enhance access to EV charging for students, faculty, and surrounding communities, furthering New York’s clean energy goals.

Driving the Charge Toward Sustainability

Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act, led by Senator Schumer, the funding will allow SUNY to install both DC fast chargers and Level 2 chargers, some integrated with solar canopies and battery storage.
