Intern Spotlight: Where Are They Now? | Noah Carpenter

At PISO, we are dedicated to creating an environment where our interns can explore various aspects of our business while developing skills that will serve them well throughout their careers. In this edition of our Intern Spotlight: Where Are They Now? series, we are excited to feature Noah Carpenter. Noah’s experience at PISO over the past 2.5 years spans multiple areas of operations, from fieldwork to financial planning, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the business. His time with us helped him grow professionally and reinforced his passion for operations management.

Here’s what Noah had to say about his time at PISO and how it has influenced his career path:

“My name is Noah Carpenter, and I have had the privilege of interning at Plug In Stations Online (PISO) for approximately 2.5 years. During this time, I have amassed extensive experience across various facets of the company’s operations, including field operations, financial planning and analysis, sales support, and customer relations. The opportunities extended to me by John Doran and the PISO team have been invaluable, enhancing my understanding of the business landscape and my overall personal and professional growth.

The teamwork and camaraderie at PISO is unlike any place I have worked before, and it is something I cherish and try to build away from the office as well. The team in the office has found a perfect balance of professionalism while still being able to joke around and have fun with each other. From a field perspective, the electricians and technicians are always willing to take me under their wing and teach me things when I go to job sites.

Away from the workplace, I play Junior hockey in Canada and plan to continue at the collegiate level soon. John and other PISO employees often watch and keep up with how my games are going; it is always nice to get a ‘nice game’ or ‘good luck’ text, as I often do. This past season, I was fortunate enough to win the championship of my league and fell just two wins short of a national championship. Looking back, my biggest takeaway from this was the importance of teamwork. Every player contributed to the success of the team in their own way, and every player was able to gel and connect with one another on a level I never thought possible. I see many of the same qualities at PISO, where each team member plays a vital role in keeping the business moving forward and everyone is willing to go the extra mile or bend their back for their peers to make everyone’s lives easier.

As I reflect on my time as an Operations Intern at PISO, I am grateful for the wealth of knowledge and experience gained. It provided me with a solid foundation in operations management and reinforced my passion for pursuing a career in this field. The skills and insights acquired will undoubtedly serve as a springboard for my future endeavors, equipping me with the tools necessary to thrive in the world of business operations.”

Noah’s experience at PISO demonstrates the unique opportunities we strive to provide our interns, that extend far beyond the office walls. His reflections highlight the strong sense of community, teamwork, and professional growth we are proud to foster at PISO. As Noah continues his journey, both on the ice and in the world of business operations, we are thrilled to see the positive impact his time at PISO has had on his career. We look forward to watching Noah’s future successes and remain committed to supporting all our interns as they take the next steps in their professional journeys.
