Celebrating National Small Business Week in New York’s Capital Region

PlugIn Stations Online LLC (PISO) wrapped up National Small Business Week with another major recognition in New York’s Capital Region. John E. Doran, President and Founder of PlugIn Stations Online, was honored by the SBA Syracuse District Office as the Upstate District Small Business Person of the Year.

The recognition highlights both John’s entrepreneurial leadership and PISO’s continued impact on the growth of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure throughout the Northeast.

Founded in 2011, PISO has helped shape the EV charging landscape through the design, installation, and deployment of electric vehicle charging infrastructure projects across New York and the Northeast.

What began with John Doran’s early passion for electric vehicles and electrical work has evolved into one of the region’s experienced EV infrastructure firms. Over the years, PISO has installed thousands of EV charging ports while supporting a wide range of public and private charging projects, including municipal, commercial, fleet, airport, and utility-driven infrastructure initiatives.

John was nominated by Capital Region Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Business Advisor Thomas Reynolds and supported by the Capital Region SBDC, hosted by the University at Albany.

The Small Business Person of the Year recognition is awarded to business leaders who demonstrate growth, innovation, resilience, and meaningful contributions to their industry and community.
