Filling High-Speed Charging Gaps
The New York Power Authority (NYPA) aimed to address the gaps in high-speed charging stations in charging deserts along major travel routes with the Evolve North Hudson project. The Power Authority has worked with PISO on dozens of high-speed and high-profile projects such as the NFTA Pantograph Chargers.
Key Highlights
- Installed an 8-unit DC fast charging site at Frontier Town Gateway.
- Four of the units are not yet operational.
- Enhanced high-speed charging accessibility in a rural Adirondack mountains region near major travel routes.
Breaking Ground
NYPA faced the challenge of filling gaps in high-speed charging infrastructure along key travel routes, particularly in rural areas. The goal was to ensure that EV drivers had access to reliable charging options during long-distance travel, promoting the adoption of electric vehicles and reducing range anxiety.
Site Work
PISO collaborated with NYPA to design and construct an 8-unit DC fast charging site, with four units currently operational, at Frontier Town Gateway. This involved comprehensive planning and construction. The project addressed the unique requirements of a rural location, ensuring the site was accessible and user-friendly for all EV drivers.
Finished Product
PISO helped fill a major gap in high-speed charging accessibility in a rural charging desert, supporting the effort to drive infrastructure and the ability to sustain an EV world. The project exemplifies PISO’s capability to deliver efficient and effective EV infrastructure solutions, even in challenging and remote locations.
